When a dust storm forces his crew to evacuate the planet while thinking him dead, astronaut Mark Watney finds himself stranded on Mars's surface, completely alone.

Armed with nothing but his ingenuity, his engineering skills— and a gallows sense of humor that proves to be his greatest source of strength—Mark embarks on a dogged quest to stay alive. But will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him? --back cover

Very scientific and technical book

I finished the book in two days. It’s great. You will especially enjoy it if you’re interested in detailed explanations of how stuff works on Mars (farming, orbital dynamics, making water, fixing and tinkering with all the tools and machinery, etc). There isn’t a lot of emotions involved in large sections of the book, so don’t expect it. This makes sudden jokes hit very hard though. There are emotional moments and the book will keep you at the edge of your seat.
